FAX 2008 Arrival Day

International Participants:

You will arrive in the United States through a “port of entry.” The entry points vary for all five countries represented in the program. We are sending a staff member of the ASB FAX program to meet and greet you in the city in which you arrive. Here is the list of staff members by port:

 July 8th:

Nigeria             Atlanta                        Todd Hall (Cell: 979-422-3819)

July 9th:

Venezuela        Miami                         Jason Sosa (Cell: 979-575-3254)

Turkey             Houston                      Michael Sagas and Gregg Bennett (Cell: 979-575-8764)

Indonesia         Minneapolis                 Lisa Gorzycki (Cell: 979-229-9965)

Russia              Atlanta                         Lisa Gorzycki (Cell: 979-229-9965)

When you arrive at your respective “port of entry” you will each get your bags and go through U.S. Customs and Immigration.

*Reminder: Foreign visitors traveling to the U.S. have their two index fingers scanned and a digital photograph taken to match and authenticate their travel documents at the port of entry.

After you clear Immigration and Customs you will recheck your bags (typically right after you leave Customs there is a baggage check area for those traveling through on U.S. Domestic airlines…which all of you are except for participants from Turkey). After you recheck your bag, you will enter the airport lobby/waiting area.

The individuals listed above will be there to greet you at this point. Please look for the logo that appears on the website (the six country flags with the Texas A&M University logo in the middle) as you enter this area. The staff person there to greet you will be holding a sign with the logo. The staff member will then escort you to your next flight in the domestic concourse. The staff member may even board the same flight with you and accompany you on your flight to Houston (for two pick ups the staff member will take a different flight back to Houston).

RUSSIAN PARTICIPANTS: Please note that your escort (Lisa) will not arrive in Atlanta until 7:25 PM and you will arrive in Atlanta at 4:30PM. Thus, after you go through Customs and Immigration, you can go directly to your next gate to board your flight to Houston (IAH)....Lisa will look for you there after she arrives at the airport.

When you arrive in Houston, proceed to baggage claim. Dr. Bennett and I will be in baggage claim area (along with other staff members) to assist you with your bags and get you on the van to College Station. The drive from Houston to College Station is about 1.5 hours. A staff member will drive you to the dorm and assist you with check in there also.

Please note that I will not distribute any funds for meals and incidentals until July 11. Please bring along enough funds to make it through this arrival day. The first van should arrive to The Tradition dorm at 4PM this day. The last group will arrive at 10:30 PM this day.

We have scheduled our orientation session for July 10. You will get an outline of the program along with the guidelines for funds distribution on that day. I will also distribute your first installment of meal funds that afternoon ($300).

Remember to LOOK for the logo to find your greeter:
